This was a first for us. Camping in Algonquin Park – Mew Lake Site 16 in April! Our earliest visit before that was into the interior, probably mid May. My guess would be Stratton Lake. We arrived on Thursday with some nice sun. On arrival we found that our chosen site was quite wet. Stephanie had quick look around at the other sites and the park booking system to see if we could move….surprisingly the campsite was completely booked for the weekend. The rain continued on Friday off and on. We took a trip to the West Gate and Oxtounge Lake, stopping at one of our favourite stores – Algonquin Outfitters. The rain showers continued Saturday as we went to the Visitors Centre and the Spruce Bog trail. We did not complete the trail because the dogs became soaked very quickly. Sunday was backup day. While Stephanie walked Luke and Leia, I “endured” the snow showers, then rain as I packed up the outside of the camper. We were worried about the ruts we were going to leave when we left, but we were reassured by the Campsite Host, that it did not matter. All in all it was great to camping!
