    March 14, 2026..First Day of Vacation....NOT - DELAYED

Here’s what’s happening with us....

March 15, 2026 – Western Village, Carlisle, PA – Site 34

The dogs and I have been here before. This was Stephanies first time. It makes for a long first day drive, almost 8 hours, but usually the nights don’t go below freezing. Unlike last year, we arrived during the daylight making setup very easy. Last year it was dark when i arrived. I had to single handedly, back the brand new trailer without hitting anything. This year we were lucky to get a pull through. The park is a great place to stay for transient folks. One night here then on to Jones Lake State Park, NC

March 14, 2026..First Day of Vacation….NOT – DELAYED

As the days counted down, we were crossing our fingers that we were going to be able to start the adventure on time….unfortunately the night before we left, it snowed 10cm and the roads were icy and snow covered. It was a long wait. Tomorrow is supposed to b better !

September 1 – September 4, 2025 – Green Lakes State Park, NY Site 53

Although public swimming ended yesterday, this park is amazing. Tons of trails, and all kinds of interesting things…The only downside of travelling at this time of year is that some of the visitor centres, boating opportunities and other things are “Closed for the Season”. The two green lakes here were the results of a melting glacier. The green colour of the lakes is caused by “suspended microscopic calcite particles, a form of calcium carbonate, that scatter sunlight, reflecting green wavelengths back to the observer” We will definitely be coming back to this park….

August 29 – September 1, 2025 – 75 Pine Road, Colton, NY

Another great weekend with Friends at 75 Pine.

February 27, 2025 – Emporia KOA – Site 8

Night 2 – Time to de-winterize… Stephanie is still at home preparing for her flight to Myrtle Beach. We were assigned site 8, which was next to the one we were assigned last year (Site 7 – where Site 8’s sewage flows right beside the fire ring ). Although we were hoping for one of the larger sites, I think this is where the area they put the one nighters. It’s a nice park, but it looks like they cater to both transient and long term campers. The office staff are great! I forgot to get a picture of the site….. 🙂

February 26, 2025 – Western Village RV Park – Site 143

The first leg is aways the longest…. Me and the dogs left at 8:00 to be able to travel the first destination. Last year we stayed at a hotel (CA$240). This year the weather was cooperating so we stayed at this RV park (CA$60). Unfortunately we arrived after dark, and also had to contend with some rain showers. After a couple of walks around the park, then dinner, it was early to bed.

February 26, 2025 – And we are off !

Well we are off, at least the dogs and me. Stephanie took some pictures of us leaving the driveway for the first time with the new trailer. We left today because it was the best weather window we had. Above 0c temperatures will allow us to stay at a RV park (US$50), instead of the hotel we stayed at last year (CA$250). The dogs and I will make multiple stretch/bathroom breaks along the way and only spend one night in Carlisle, PA. Stephanie will be flying into Myrtle Beach to join us in a couple of days.

Getting ready for the next adventure…..

February 17, 2025

Today was the day we started getting our new Camper ready for the winter adventure. We did well all winter keeping the snow at bay, but don’t you know, all the snow decided to fall within a week of the departure. We cleared the roof and moved it to the staging area so we could start packing.

March 22, 2024 – Rocky Mount KOA, NC

This was a one night stay over between parks. We found out, that, this is actually their specialty. They really don’t have long staying visitors, but at this time of year they rely on transiting Snow Birds. The weather continues to be horrible. Rain, wind, and cooler temperatures.

March 14-21, 2024 – Myrtle Beach State Park, SC – Site 26

Here we are, back to Myrtle Beach. We last visited here when the dogs were still puppies, now they are almost two years old. This is one of our favorite spots. In the end we will be here for 8 nights (it was supposed to be 9, but if you read the last post, you will see why…. The dogs absolutely love the ocean. It was todays highlight.
