    February 17, 2025 - Kemtptville..getting ready

Here’s what’s happening with us....

September 2-6, 2020 Wesley Clover Park Campground

We left Kemptville around noon and headed toward Wesley Clover Park in the west end of Ottawa. We have camped there once before. Stephanie booked the same site we had last time.  B3-10. Set up went well and the rain had not started yet.

We went into Barrhaven for our massage therapy appoints and to pick up some last minute items, including a San Marinos pizza for dinner. By the time we returned it was pouring rain. After dinner we joined Phylis, Tony, Brad, and Riley in the Pilla trailer. It was nice to see them again.

Nicer weather Thursday, and a visitor dropped in to say hello. Ginette came for lunch and hung around the campfire while I cooked a spice cake for the campfire dessert. We had a hotdog dinner with the Bevan’s and Brad, then enjoyed the nightly campfire.

Friday brought some radicand relaxing. Dinner with The Pilla’s and Bevans. It was Lynn’s birthday. Phyllis cook a beautiful lasagna, and of course cake. We sat up for a campfire and s’mores.

Saturday my mother joined us for lunch, grilled cheese over the fire. Afterwards we one to the Tanger mall. Mom had never been there before and was curious. Stephanie and I didn’t mind at all, because we do enjoy our window shopping. After dinner we had a campfire with our friends.

Sunday, our last day. The weather was not bad. It was kind of a book reading day. Dinner, then a campfire with our friends. Monday is a move day to Canisby Campground in Algonquin Park.

July 30, 2020 – August 3, 2020

The August long weekend! A chance to try out Wesley Clover Park in the west end of Ottawa. We will be joining our friends from Brockville and Prescott. The weather was good for most of the weekend. We had a couple of good campfires with Phylis, Tony, Brad and Lynne, and of course Riley! Sunday was a bit of a washout with some good storms rolling through the area. Wesley Clover is a nice place to stay., especially if your are touring the city.

July 27, 2020 – Murphy’s Point Provincial Park

Part one of a week of camping. All our trips to Higley Flow have been cancelled so far. What a shame. It looks like we probably won’t be gong there at all this year. The weather looked good, so we booked the last campsite at Murphy’s Point Provincial. We cooked over the campfire, went hiking and did a little bit of kayaking. Next time we will spend more time at the hike in beach. It was great, but sorry no pictures….we forgot the camera. Stephanie was lucky enough to see one of the big rat snakes that are in the park and also a juvenile bear!

July 18, 2020 – My 56th birthday

It was a good day. Oatmeal raisin cookies and ice cream cake with my Godson Owen, and a kayak/dinner with Stephanie.

July 1st, 2020…Who would have thought?

Well It’s Canada Day and I’m not working! It’s the first time in over 18 years. Here I am in 2014, thanks to Ben Ripley

2014

Wow….. who would have thought that I would be posting on Canadas 153rd birthday.

June 18 – 21, 2020 – Rideau Acres Campground – Kingston

Our first weekend of camping for the 2020 season! Damn Covid19! Rideau Acres Campground, located in Kingston was the only one open during this time period. The Provincial Parks are still not open and either is the border between Canada and the States. We were originally supposed to head out on Friday, but we could not wait. We rebooked for Thursday and arrived around 12:00. We asked for site E9, but ended up on E8. E9 was located at the end of the aisle, but since our last stay, it was closed “due to sewer problems”. Every now and agin we would get a small wiff of something bad.

This was not only our first trip of the season, but it was also Tony and Phylis’, and Brad and Lynn’s first trip of the season. We all agreed, that while this campground was not too bad, it was not Higley Flow.

The weather for the entire weekend was very good. Not too hot. The beach had a little too much goose poop to go swimming. And Ben was his typical self….i like camping, I don’t like camping, I like camping, I don’t like camping………

We decided we will stay here again if it’s the only choice, but we really miss Higley Flow.

May 17, 2020 – Its a bridge building kind of day

It’s been a great day. It’s the Long Weekend and we should be at Higley Flow, but you know…..Our next scheduled camping trip is in June. We hope the border is open by then. Today we replaced our bridge that gives us access to our “Outhouse” (wood storage) from the campfire area. The original one lasted 14 years, not too bad.

April 4, 2020

Wow, who would have thought that COVID 19 would bring EVERYTHING to a stop! Our Easter camping trip to Farren Lake PP was cancelled, and it looks like our May Long weekend trip to Higley Flow will also be cancelled. It might end up being a very short camping season……

March 7 2020 – Carleton U – Book of C-Eng the musical

https://1drv.ms/u/s!BB5pg3TnRtg-rz2SRJ40qta5GFc4?e=1Sxb8X

We had a great time at the 2020 C-ENG Musical. This was the second time we attended this great performance! Ryan did a great job! We look forward to next year!

February 28 2020 – 41 more sleeps until camping season!

Can’t wait…..
