Part one of a week of camping. All our trips to Higley Flow have been cancelled so far. What a shame. It looks like we probably won’t be gong there at all this year. The weather looked good, so we booked the last campsite at Murphy’s Point Provincial. We cooked over the campfire, went hiking and did a little bit of kayaking. Next time we will spend more time at the hike in beach. It was great, but sorry no pictures….we forgot the camera. Stephanie was lucky enough to see one of the big rat snakes that are in the park and also a juvenile bear!
July 18, 2020 – My 56th birthday
It was a good day. Oatmeal raisin cookies and ice cream cake with my Godson Owen, and a kayak/dinner with Stephanie.
July 1st, 2020…Who would have thought?
Well It’s Canada Day and I’m not working! It’s the first time in over 18 years. Here I am in 2014, thanks to Ben Ripley
Wow….. who would have thought that I would be posting on Canadas 153rd birthday.
June 18 – 21, 2020 – Rideau Acres Campground – Kingston
Our first weekend of camping for the 2020 season! Damn Covid19! Rideau Acres Campground, located in Kingston was the only one open during this time period. The Provincial Parks are still not open and either is the border between Canada and the States. We were originally supposed to head out on Friday, but we could not wait. We rebooked for Thursday and arrived around 12:00. We asked for site E9, but ended up on E8. E9 was located at the end of the aisle, but since our last stay, it was closed “due to sewer problems”. Every now and agin we would get a small wiff of something bad.
This was not only our first trip of the season, but it was also Tony and Phylis’, and Brad and Lynn’s first trip of the season. We all agreed, that while this campground was not too bad, it was not Higley Flow.
The weather for the entire weekend was very good. Not too hot. The beach had a little too much goose poop to go swimming. And Ben was his typical self….i like camping, I don’t like camping, I like camping, I don’t like camping………
We decided we will stay here again if it’s the only choice, but we really miss Higley Flow.
Final wash before we leave Kingston Kingston waterfront I know its here somewhere.
May 17, 2020 – Its a bridge building kind of day
It’s been a great day. It’s the Long Weekend and we should be at Higley Flow, but you know…..Our next scheduled camping trip is in June. We hope the border is open by then. Today we replaced our bridge that gives us access to our “Outhouse” (wood storage) from the campfire area. The original one lasted 14 years, not too bad.
April 4, 2020
Wow, who would have thought that COVID 19 would bring EVERYTHING to a stop! Our Easter camping trip to Farren Lake PP was cancelled, and it looks like our May Long weekend trip to Higley Flow will also be cancelled. It might end up being a very short camping season……
March 7 2020 – Carleton U – Book of C-Eng the musical
We had a great time at the 2020 C-ENG Musical. This was the second time we attended this great performance! Ryan did a great job! We look forward to next year!
February 21 2020 – Another weekend at Camp
It’s been a while but I got the opportunity to cook for 17 people for the weekend. I have done this group before. The weekend went without a hitch…except for a dishwasher leak. I got to meet the new Camp Director Alesha, and her husband, Aaron who is the new Camp Warden.
January 19, 2020 – The snow has finally arrived
It finally snowed hard……
